The transect comprises out of 17 sites, from sea level at Lamberts bay, up against the Western slopes, across the sumit of Sneeukop (the 3rd highest peak in the Cederberg), down the Eastern slopes towards the Karoo, with the last site at Wupperthal. The sites differ 200 meters in altitude from the next, and each site consists of 4 grids approximately 200 meters apart, with 10 pitfall traps 10 meters apart each. This is a total of 680 pitfall traps.en
The Coast to Karoo Transect in the Cederberg investigates the abundance and species diversity of ants and beetles along the altitudinal line. It is a long term project that might also show some changes with Climate Change. These files on Vegetation data provide micro-habitat information which aim to put the invertabrate data in contects.en
